Day 12 Saturday 8th May
Tardets to Aramits 11.5miles
Last night was so strange. The food was excellent but I could have
landed inthe middle of Eastenders. Madame was friendly and
welcoming,Monsieur quite grumpy and very chauvinistic and grand
daughter (12 going on 18) very adolescent, sulky and argumentative.
Dinner was shared with these three, myself and two other guests who
appeared to be friends of the hosts. And then halfway through arrived
dad and 2 yr old with a baby somewhere in the background. Mum nowhere
to be seen, definitely person non grata and cause of much tension
between grandparents and grand daughter. So I was quite glad ringer to
bed.
Today I chose to take the long route over the tops to avoid the heAvy
traffic and it was lovely scenery most of the way. Only fly in the
ointment was that my route was also the track for today's bank holiday
rally Cross event! Not exactly the tranquil walk I'd hoped for.
Now I'm warmly tucked up in today's little gem. A delightful 18tj
century home lovingly cared for by my elderly host and his wife. He's
a charming gentleman who has relished the chance to cook the kind of
food he likes to eat, while his wife is away. Simple but delicious.
And he has a beautifully groomed one-hole golf course outside!
