A lesson in acceptance

Day 13 Rest day in Laruns
It was a good plan - get the bus to the Thermal Station, have a massage, walk back then have a meal and retire early ready for a long walk over the Col de Louvie to the Gite d'Etape at Arbéost for tomorrow night. However
- Eaux Bonnes hasn't started functioning yet.
- Eaux Chaudes has, but the bus only runs to Eaux Bonnes.
- it's a lovely 4-5km stroll to E Chaudes
- the Thermal station there is closed between 12 and 3.30
- the hotel/cafe there is closed on weekdays (until tomorrow!)
- there's not a lot to do if you arrive at about 1pm before May 13th
- when the sun disappears and it's Windy and damp E Chaude is definitely not chaude.
- there's not much point walking 8 hrs to Arbeost when all the beds in the valley are taken
for a wedding.
- when the passes are closed because of snow the only options are staying put or going down the valley
- even when the only bus leaves at 6.25am that seems the more appealing proposition.
So, I'm off to bed now ready for the early bus followed by about 15 miles along a fairly flat stretch of pilgrim trail towards Lestelle-Betharram, near Lourdes. Snowy mountains would be nicer, but alone with no guarantee of accomodation, or even being able to get through it seems a bit foolhardy.
Actually, that sounds more bleak than it is. The walk up the gorge was fabulous and I have really rather enjoyed the day. It just wasn't quite the treat that I'd planned. Still, the next rest day comes round quickly -on Monday in Bagnères de Bigorres - and I will have a resident masseuse onhand there! I think I can wait.
