Ordiarp to Tardets-Sorholus 9 miles
Walking along a main road with some fairly heavy lorries rattling past
lost its appeal quite quickly in spite of the glorious weather.
Luckily my route moved onto little paths and farm lanes quite quickly
and it's been a delight, passing through tiny hamlets and farmlands
and winding through woods and along rivers. Not too much of a struggle
physically either. And today it really has been a solo affair,
although at one point I thought a flock of sheep had attached
themselves to me. They followed for a good 10 minutes at a discreet
distance with no sign of shepherd or dog. The dog was in fact there.
He just looked rather like a sheep.
Having thrown off the sheep it was time for lunch, which I had in the
central square of the village. Thank goodness for bus shelters. Not
only are they wonderful shelters from the wind and rai but on a sunny
day they provide respite from the heat and a place to put your feet up
with something of a backrest too. I'm not sure the locals were too
impressed though, particularly once the boots were off to give the
feet their time out. Several locals wandered by for a look and one old
man stopped by to find out what I was up to and stayed for a chat. By
comparison the rest of the day was quite ordinary. Apart from dinner,
that is. But that's another story.
